I've bit the bullet and ordered 2m of the trim. If it works all well and good if it doesn't then I've not wasted much and when moeny allows I can get the vw frames and seals and fit them

Yes my California has both: The strip along the front top edge and the metal bracketed one that fits to the inside front of the door closure.
All I can say is the noise levels in the cab at cruising speeds are similar to that of a modern car enabling easy conversation.

If I'm honest I'm not too sure about the mod, I just reckon it will look too darn ugly even if it works, :rofl hats off for trying tho.....

uppers are standard on passenger vans sins about 84

lower seals are standard fit on caravelles / passenger carrying vansfrom about 87(D) onwards.

pre 87 dont have the dimples/molds for the screws , post 87 screw marks are fitted.

should be D reg onwards - open your door look behind the hinges to see if yours has the pressings

whistle stops were only fitted to caravelles and kombis that had the rear vent glass fitted as it was found that the vents caused a whistle; many campers also whistle because of the sliding windows etc...not being fully sealed, if you just open a cab window a smidge the whistle goes very often'; I'd also say that from experience even with whistle stops you can still get a whistle - in my case it's the sunroof seal that is passing

Correct, my Caravelle Syncro has these fitted too, and mine also has the rear vented side windows.

I know it is an old thread butmy bus suffers from the dreaded wind noise and at times can meet motorway speed limits. Did anyone try the woolies trim option and did it make a difference

Or are there any other options?

Cheers

James
