Keep washing it with shampoo wash (well every other month) but there is no getting away from the fact those acres of steel would really benefit from a nice deep polish.
What's the best/easiest products to give the best result? Worth buying a buffer?

I use autoglym high definition wax myself. Might be worth getting in touch with this fella though.http://forum.club8090.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=102162" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

ALDI do a good Canuba wax based shampoo. Just wash, rinse, job done. Comes up shiney.

need to understand what products do what

anything thats not brand new will need at least a gentle polish , this gently removes built up grime and gives the shine - something like autoglym super resin polish is good - if the paint is more than a bit tired you may need to repeat again or step up to something stronger

once the paint is looking clean and shiney then its time to protect the work with a wax or sealant - this is just a protective layer

Hi Karl, if doing by hand, i recommend washing the van first, then use a clay bar (as this will remove most of the contaminants that have built up over time, sap etc) leaving a smooth finish - then wash again, dry, apply polish, wipe down with a detailing spray, wash again and then apply wax. A lot of work & you'll want a few beers afterwards but it wil bring it up nice.

Hand polishing will obviously only do so much and a machine polisher will get a better finish & get more swirls and scratches out of the paintwork.

I do have a bit of an addiction with cleaning my cars up... I would give the team at autobrite direct a call or email they are really helpful and I highly recommend using their products especially Cherry Glaze, great at getting out nasty swirl marks especially with a DA polisher which they also sell, but its not the cheapest :)
