Sliding window woes!

Post by JimmyT25 »

I bought a nice sliding window recently at Bristol volksfest was a bit of a bargain along with a few other bits, however after taking it apart and giving it a good clean, I have taken out my old glass and upon trying to fit the sliding window I have offered it up and found that despite being told it was from a van with factory fitted windows, like mine is, it isn't long enough :/
I have looked up the reg number that is etched onto the glass and it says it belonged to a blue t25 but why doesn't it fit mine? And what does it fit as there is nowhere else on my van that I could fit it. :( ImageImage

the windows changed size in '84, can't remember if it was the sliding door window and that one, or just one of them though?

Ah I see that would make a lot of sense as my van is 1982 and the van it came off of was 1985.
Does anyone want to swap a post 84 offside sliding window for a pre 84 one?

I cannot offer a swap, but I might be interested in helping you get your money back on the one you bought. One of the glass in mine is perspex and a bit scratched. Could you measure the "sliding glass" panel, the actual glass bit if poss (not the frame) and let me know. If not poss to measure the actual glass, perhaps you could measure the frame, so I can compare it to mine.
Got a new van, but it's a 165bhp T4 [shock horror] Accurate LPG Station map here

mines a 82 and offered the window up out of a 89 caravelle to the window behind the drivers seat and it looks exactly the same size , I thought it was just the sliding window in the side door what was different in size , as the 89 caravelle window is definitely to big for my 82 sliding door hole

Ok, so the window I have is probably from a left hand drive vans sliding door.

I will measure it up and let you know, I'm really interested in getting another sliding window for the offside/behind drivers seat which fits my van! I need to find one locally (Exeter/Devon area) if possible as I'm not sure sending by courier would be ok or not :/
