Seems to be a pre-requisite for being a T25 owner!

Good luck with it and post up some pictures

All the best

Cheers Mike

Very familiar..although a couple of them are now covered in very lumpy welding...Welding upside down is bloody hard!

Turned up today whilst I was on the drive cutting more bits of the van :ok

There was a bit in the back corners where there is an interior pillar that I just could not get to the seam from inside. Didn't matter how I positioned the torch!

All the rest was welded from either the rear light aperture or the engine bay.

Either way they are in and solid...the lump hammer proved that.

Cleaning up ready to weld I noticed that the strip on the inner skin behind the bumper mounting (if that makes sense) is rusted through, is there a replacement panel for this part? Also are there any threads with pics of this bit being repaired?

More welding tomorrow. Offside rear arch and outer sill/ fridge panel.

Must buy some leather gloves for welding, my hands look like they have been put in a deep fat fryer and then been attacked by a cat

gloves ...............nah , you need to feel the torch and a bit of pain is fine really , politicians and the judiciary pay good money for it.

I will try and grab a pic tomorrow, hopefully my phone will still work when I have picked the weld spatter off the screen...must remember to put the phone at least 6 feet away from where I am welding or figure out why i am getting so much spatter!

Took her in for MOT today after finishing the welding on Sunday (apart from the o/s lower rear corner) which I did last night.

Just had a call to say she passed :D

Next on the list is to insulate and board the back - insulating with this stuff: http://www.lbsbmonline.co.uk/YBS-Super- ... 000050.asp" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Then source a new front window seal (I will not be buying a JK one..I have read the threads and will be getting it from vw emporium when they are back in stock - unless anyone else knows a good stockist of the decent seals??) and then get the windscreen out and repair the window lip. Not sure my fine migging skills are fully up to the challenge but I have to give it a go. I have looked at the threads and see that the pro's use brazing but my butane torch doesn't get hot enough to use the rods. So I will have to mig it.

Can't tell you how pleased I am that I tackled this job myself.

Pics to follow once I get out of work and pick up the van...if this bleedin' rain ever stops anyway

Mine are the same, I have some kitchen roll down at the moment after towelling them off!

The lip looks pretty well rusted on my windscreen surround.
