Re: Bodywork repair and repainting.... ongoing updates
Hi funbus, maybe but unfortunately I've had a bit of a setback today, whilst trying to fit the windscreen ready for the mot I managed to smash it into a million little pieces so had to postpone the mot for now
On the plus side though I now have a brand new shiny windscreen (with no wiper scratches) thanks to national windscreens who where brilliant and I would recommend them to anyone! I phoned them at 9 this morning, they gave me the cheapest quote £108 inc coming out and fitting everything and turned up at 2pm (despite the fact I'm in the middle of nowhere on the edge of exmoor and they had to get the windscreen from Bristol around 100 miles from my local branch) and the guy who came out was excellent and also fitted all my other windows which saved me the bother!

Re: Bodywork repair and repainting.... ongoing updates
Ok, a bit of an update, I'm nearly done with the bodywork now, just a few bits to improve on and the sliding door to finish and I'm currently working out a way to spray the bus! I have bought a 6m x 3m gazebo/marquee and am going to set up some sort of extraction system from some fans and pipe/tube I can get from work.
Apart from this has anyone got any ideas/suggestions.
Any help would be much appreciated

Good work, puts me to shame. Where did you pick up the welding skills?

Hi flyinghitop...... I cheated and used my brother in law who is a welder for a living!
Cheeky V - I would do but I've already got everything to spray it and it's now in progress, update to follow!

Hi, brilliant thread! love the gazebo idea. Just wondering how easy it was to fit the saab 93 seats looking to do the same to mine. thanks tony
Re: Bodywork repair and repainting.... ongoing updates
Hi tonyandhelen, the gazebo was the cheapest/best option I could find to spray the van in, worked really well and was only £55 delivered for a 6m x 3m one on ebay
The saab seats were originally fitted by using brackets on the original runners and drilling and bolting these to the saab runners, I then refitted them to a swivel base at a later date by fitting the base and cutting off the vw runners on the top of the swivel base and welding the saab ones on.
They won't bolt straight on as they are slightly wider than the vw runners but they have got completely flat runners so are easier to fit as a result and are lovely comfortable seats that have loads of handy storage pockets! Hope this helps.
