Hi mickey, I would be very interested in one of these as its one of the parts left on my van to replace before interior work starts, could you make one up? All the best

I treated that edge and just left it as it was. Now any moisture that might build up on the inside of the body panel can run down, out, and gone. Not seen any rust since. It also acts as a sort of safety feature should you have a gas leak inside. Even if I did choose to close it, I'd just use one of the modern panel adhesives. Just my take anyway. I couldn't see the point of replicating a rust trap. :D The flow of air seems to keep it all nice and dry.

It really should be closed as it forms part of a box structure and adds strength and rigidity to the side,also gas if any escapes via you drop out holes
