yes you want to remove that and fit your new panel same way there is also one at the lower edge, make sure you only TACK it all on and use grips then try the door, , you will find the lip is too long , well the whole wing is too long actually but when your trial fitting you will see.

Should be ready to fit by saturday, had a spare hour today so found all the spots mentioned above, chiseled them off and just need to clean up old spots now. Need to cut a 10mm strip to tck to the fake seam on back of panel as advised by Metalmick8y and then we are nearly good to go, oh and i am replacing rear corner this side, so i am going to also be repairing a little bit of inner arch as nows the time to do it. Also in the process of contemplating air ride. . . . it is in discussion.

no mate that was just an initial cut as i didnt know where the panel would come ti, i like to do that first to get some of the work done, and then i cut to fit when i have the new panel, bit apprehensive/cautious as its my first one. If you wouldnt mind, would you be happy to explain the ins and outs of replacing the fridge side same panel? it looks like a right pain. Whats the trick to accessing for welding behind the pillar?

So am i right to say i hammer back the bit that this is overlapping and spot onto it? Can you tell me why this is best? i was presuming it would be butt welded, but i am obviously open to other ideas.

Well ,you can't really butt it,the distortion alone will destroy it,this top edge of you do it the way I've shown means after a whip over with the grinder you can very easy dun a smear of filler over the edge and its lost as either end is finnished by a 90'edge so no edge to loose, tricky part is the ends on the verto al part of the panel

thats the way , you might need to add a spot inbetween the ones you have done but looks good to me, did you add the strip inside to weld to the inner arch
