Good afternoon to one and all on this gloomy PM
I am after a bit of advice please if possible
I am going to attempt to start the van in the next few minutes after a long lay up, and remember last time I did this I poured a small amout of petrol in the carb and she statred straight away.
Th battery is charged up but I cannot remember where i pour tyhe petrol there are 2 round cylinders 1 with butterfly in front and 1 with nothing except pipes into etc.
Could anyone possibly advise me on this as at present they are dry.
Many Thanks in advance, and hopefully will get sorted.
A brilliant club and lots of useful advice.

If you are so unsure I would not pour petrol in "a round cylinder". You could be asking for massive trouble. If you go ahead please have a proper fire extinguisher at the ready!
Re: priming carburettor
try it first,, it may surprise you
however if not and you need to pour a bit in, open the butterfly you speak of (it'll be the choke flap) by hand and pour a little drop below it.
good luck and do please report back when you get it going

Re: priming carburettor
Hey LLoyd,
I'm having problems starting my van, same as you long lay up over the winter & on a slope (nose down) how much petrol did you drop in to the carb???
If I put in a teaspoon amount the engine fires then stops & I'm not sure about putting in loads.
Thanks
Sean
