Will it select gears with the engine off OK? if so then it might well be the clutch if not it's likely to be the linkage or (less likely I hope) the box it's self.

clamp the hose (tight) just before the slave cylinder if you can depress the clutch then the master cylinder seals have gone if you can't check to see if the slave piston is working when the clutch is depressed (without clamp)get some one to hold the clutch pedal down and check the slave piston operates and doesn't return if it does return or doesn't operate then the slave seals have gone.

Similar issues on mine led to a new clutch assembly, clutch master and slave cylinders. Then it turned out that the 'box had lunched itself internally and needed a complete rebuild. The total cost - including a gear linkage rebuild to eliminate any sloppiness - was £1250.

Change the clutch master and slave cylinders first, and bleed the system through under pressure. If that doesn't work, suspect the gearbox (lunched main bearings). The Cog Box charge £680 for a complete gearbox rebuild, or GSF sell Vege recon 'boxes for just under £800.

Good luck.
