As a very recent T25 purchaser, I'm ploughing my way through the wiki and technical archive as fast as I can. A forum member suggested that having bought a 1985 van with very little history, I need to focus on safety aspects (tyres and brakes) above engine-related matters initially.

I have no idea if that's something I'd need to do in the short term, but I'd like to locate someone in South Manchester (we're in M23) who is known to do good brake work. There are some areas where I'm happy to "have a go", but I don't think this is one of them.

Any advice gratefully received...

May save you money by putting it through an MOT, if everything is working correctly, there is no panic to start changing things.

When I watched my brakes being tested, I could clearly see how poor the brakes were and the differences from side to side were highlighted on the screen. New brakes all round and what a difference.

Hi Verne, yes I'm being my typically paranoid self. The van passed its MOT with no advisories in May so for now I'm keeping an eye on the obvious things, but keeping the wallet ready...
