Setting Hydraulic lifters

Post by 988mick »

I've just bled my lifters on my 2lt cu engine and refitted them and when I went to do the valve timing with no 1 at tdc if I turn in 1.5 turns on the tappet it is opening the exhaust valve,so much that If I shine a torch down the plug hole I can see the light trough the exhaust port,is this correct and will the lifters soften up or as the lifters are rock solid after bleeding do I just set the tappets to touch or is there something else going on ?
Thanks guys.
Mick.

Make sure you've got in at TDC on the compression stroke and not the exhaust stroke.
2ltr Aircooled CU with twin Solex's & originally a 009 dizzie, but now back to standard.
