Thermostat removal 1,9 DG late cooling system

Post by baj25 »

Just prepping for coolant flush. It looks like there only an O ring under thermostat top cover rather than a gasket, is that right? So I should be able to remove top, remove stat, temporarily replace top, flush then refit without needing any new parts? Don't want to get caught out by the need for a part costing coppers... TIA, Bri

Yes just an o ring but you will really need a new one as it will no longer be round

if you dont know the origin of the thermostat may be wise to invest in a new oem one also, cheap ones are prone to failure i have read
