Hi All,
I have just been under the van checking the CV bolts, and had quick poke and prod to see if the CVjoints had any play etc. On pulling the inner CV joints I noticed that the drive flange in the side of the gearbox/transaxle moves in and out by about 1 mm. All the CV joints are tight so it is play in the main transaxle bearings. Over the years there has been some oil leakage but nothing wet or dripping. I cannot see any up/down, front back play.
I checked the gear oil level and that is OK on the level plug, this was also done last year without any great loss of oil.
I don't want to screw the gearbox/transaxle as I know they are difficult to replace if they have gone past a rebuild. The gear box works OK with no bad noises and the ATF is clean and clear. The van has done about 90,000 genuine miles
Any thoughts???

Re: CU engine Auto box question
I'm no expert mate but I'm pretty sure everything is fine with a little bit of play in and out. Everything else is a problem.
