1989 2.1L Fuel Injector needed

Post by timjwharton »

Folks,

My 1989 2.1 Autosleeper has been running really badly for the past few weeks. Had the timing set-up properly and it was better, but still not right. We've just discovered that one of the actually fuel injectors has, at some time in the past, been swapped out with another type. As such, the firing pattern is all wrong.

Do you know where I might be able to buy a replacement fuel injector? VW Heritage do them, but there's an 8 week waiting list and they're £175 each :rollin

Any ideas?

what "other type" of injector is it then? and what do you mean exactly by "firing pattern"????????????

photos will possibly be a good idea if you're possibly a bit not really technical and are just repeating some good intentioned story you've been told by a mate or a VW GARAGE. :run

i recently bought 4 from america for less than £100 the lot but even over the water they're getting scarce.

someone here offered me 2 new originals for i think £75 each, that could be a solution for you short term if you reckon ye only need one.

me,i'd be replacing all 4...........

Quick update. Bought the part Mark suggested and swapped out the injector. Now drives like a dream. :ok
