Clutch - just checking

Post by cleagarr »

Hi all,

I think the clutch needs changing so the question is am I safe with standard T25 clutch a-la: http://www.brickwerks.co.uk/index.php/c ... 228mm.html? I've read through the wiki but couldn't find an answer (which made me think it was standard).

Also, my mechanic asked whether I am cable or hydraulic clutch? I assumed cable but on looking a bit deeper am not sure.

As alway, any help much appreciated....

Chris

The only T25 vans with a clutch cable are the very early air cooled 1.6 CT engines. 1979-1982. All the other versions have an hydraulic clutch setup.

Thanks Rob... quite encouraged that what I thought was right actually was!

BTW I think you'll find I know a bit about how your van came into the country! (Got you thinking?!)

Another question if I may....

The garage seem to think it the gear linkage. Are the parts for this standard or is syncro different?

Cheers!

I really need some help here.....

The garage have replaced the front linkage using the kit linked to above... I had to take it away this weekend so was able to see what is still wrong with it.

I can now select gears and it runs fine when in them. However, it is VERY difficult to get into fourth... when stopped it is hard to get into first - third happens more often. The stick still has lots of play in it.

The mechanic says he needs it back to finish off by fixing the rear section on the linkage however, I can't find a kit for this... is it a case of buying individual parts? Does anybody know what parts I might need for this?

Thanks

Look on fleabay - its all there.

Also look in the WIKI - there are two excellent 'how to' articles on gear linkages which show what goes where - 4 & 5 speed
