Hi folks,
I have tried searching for this to no avail...
I am running out of ideas and parts to swap out to try and get my 2.1 DJ van running reliably again. Reading the Club 80-90 Wiki, I have learned about a hot wire AFM (Air Flow Meter) conversion from GoWesty. Just wondered if anyone runs one of these successfully, and if so what problems it has solved for you please?
My problem is that I can drive for hundreds of miles with the motor running as sweet as can be then Wham! - it just stops like someone switched it off. Half an hour later it will start again and run again for hundreds of miles and then do it again. I have done all the common things like engine bay earths and swapped out all of the ignition parts - coil, TCH-I amplifier, idle stabiliser is connected together, Vanagon Syndrome capacitor installed, Hall Sender in dizzy, throttle position switch works, etc. etc.
Daren't drive the thing - please help if you can! Many thanks,
PaulG

Re: Hot Wire AFM Conversion
Now discover they no longer make and supply these, so couldn't get one new if I wanted to! However, for info. they do now make a complete fuel injection replacement for the 2.1MV - interesting stuff! $2000 to you sir!

Re: Hot Wire AFM Conversion
you can buy a refurbished one from go westy or in the second link you can test it, when I was having issues with mine, cleaned the amf thoroughly inc air filter housing, gave the resistors and wiper rail a good blast of contact cleaner at the same time I also changed the temp2 sender, my next step was to reposition the pointer on the track but it sorted it. mine was over fuelling and doing the vanagon buck
