Is it timing problems??

Post by mwheatley »

Hi,

I've just had some work done on the van (1.6td 1990), refurbed fuel pump, refurbed power steering pump. The problem I'm getting now is that the van runs fine up to 2900rpm but then starts to run badly. The mechanic is looking at the timing again but also suggests that the fuel pump settings may not be correct, although the comapny that did that have done all the bench tests etc.

The mechanic marked all the settings before dismantling the engine parts and once set back at this the 2900rpm problem starts, when set to factory settings it runs like a bag of nails apparently. He tells me there are two timing marks on the flywheel(?), is this correct?

Any help appreciated. Apologies for being vague, I'm no mechanic!!

Thanks,

Matt

There are two marks on the flywheel one looks like a V and one is a pointer looking thing, I too would like to know which is the correct one?
