Spoke to the seller yesterday, and he reckoned that he'd had an offer of £4.7K for it - so I guess that's what it went for :?

Made 4600 and i brought it, fell in love with it and couldn't resist. Yep paid i bit more than i wanted but its not making money in the bank ! Was getting sick of driving round the country looking at vans so this one being 10 miles away was a pleasant change. Lets face it they don't come up often, even standard caravelles in good original nick are hard to come by. Ive had a 1.6 JX camper for years but needed something a bit more open for work.

Looks great apart from the diff locks but im hoping that there servicable. Interior is great, never smoked in and in general mint. Body has slight seam rust and the usual but none was hidden so i can see what im dealing with. Best van iv'e been to view for a while , engine seams fantastic and well serviced. Im no expert so if anyone who viewed it has some advice for a syncro newbie, much appreciated it would be. :D

The diff locks will prob work, go on full lock or nearly full lock, engage diff lock (one at a time) and creep forward. You should find a sweet spot where the cogs in the difflock line up and engage. Stop there, you might have to back up an inch or so, then exercise the locks. It is very difficult to get the locks to engage when you have no wheelspin. It's worth a try before taking anything apart.

Thanks, the van was last on the road the end of 05, so im guessing the diff locks weren't used much for a while. Ill have a look and give it a go, i didn't leave them on long as i didn't want to damage anything. Apparently the guys grandad used it occasionally on his farm by the service stickers in the engine bay its only seen about 7000 k in the last 8 years ! Thought it was too good to be true but have to say the guy was great and gave me loads of info, getting snow tyre set too and full history with photos.

Hi robobobo

Look at your signature, now take the 'm' from mallet and turn it upside down.

Welcome to the world of Syncros. :D :D :D

I have just put my Syncro up for sale. I have just bought a splitty which is going to gobble money faster than any Syncro!

It's a rhd twin sliding door factory windowed van. Its got a rock n roll bed from a multivan & a few sets of wheels.

It's not mint, but pretty straight. It's a 1900 petrol with 99k on the clock. It always starts first time & doesn't fluff about.

At £3,795 it's not silly money either. There are some nice bits added to it & could be made into a great van. If I didn't have the splitty, I think I would get it repainted & use it for all the shows.

It's on the Surrey/Hants border so not exactly close.

Sure I saw this one at Vanfest last year. Dealer (but said it was something to do with his family) wanted £4000 for it then.
I really liked the look of it to. Well done sir & welcome aboard! :ok
