Front diff seal change

Post by silverbullet »

I'm sure this is all common sense but I'll ask if there are any tricks or potential snags on this job.

I have knocked up a wrench to hold the prop flange and I have all the seals, clips, bungs etc. plus a bit of plastic tube to tap the new seals back in.

I presume it's just a case of prise the bung out, remove clip with suitable circlip pliers and withdraw the flange, before prising out the old halfshaft seal?

Oof. I have just finished grovelling about and shoved it back in. All bolts are loose so I could go back to it, but since the cv flanges are dry I decided to leave them alone for now. Just replaced the prop flange seal and good job too, the dust seal was shredded and it had no grip left.
