12v compressor: anyone used this one?

Post by Winchweight »

As it says, looking for a 12v on board compressor to add to the vans fit out, has anyone used this one? Your thoughts?

Maybe, but the first one seems very heavy and I'm concerned neither is heavy enough duty for pumping up 4 Syncro tyres several times a day.

Hi

I bought one 2 years ago at the first OA show.

Great piece of kit. Very well built.

I'd recommend it.

Cheers Rich

I've been looking too. I've read recomendations on for the T-Max. But this is a better price http://www.paddockspares.com/pm982-twin ... 00gbp.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
And they do a single cylinder version for around £43. Not sure how good they are though.

if someone else posts at almost the same time as you then it quite common that your posts won´t go through

That is one of the ones we were trying out in Africa Tom.

Bad points

The valve on the hose fell apart after the second go (fixed with another part by Dave in Spain)
The pressure gauge on the hose only gives a true reading when the pump is turned off.
They only just pump up 4 Syncro tyres from aired down for sand pressure before it over heats and cuts out.
The gauge broke.

Good points

It blows a tyre up from flat pretty quickly.
They are cheap.
When I got back and moaned on the phone they sent me a brand new one within 24 hours.

It isn't a bad compressor, its just let down with the cheap hose and gauge. I would be trying the T-max or an ARB if I were to buy again but that is only my personal opinion from what I have experienced. Also another compressor lesson we learned is to have one per vehicle if traveling with others otherwise it over heats and you spend ages waiting for it to cool down to air up again.

I hope this helps.

Are you just blowing up tyres?

If so surely a cheaply would do?

Now what I fancy is a high pressure hose for cleaning stuff!
