Tank straps & MoT
One of my tank straps has rusted through and is now flapping around. The tank is held firmly in place by the gearbox so isn't going anywhere; Is it a big job to replace the strap? If I simply cut the strap off so its not flapping about will it pass the MoT (not due until March)?

Re: Tank straps & MoT
only the one the fuel pump is attached to is going to be an mot issue
it can be as simple as undoing one bolt and slacking a couple of nuts and replace; run a die up the threaded section of the top strap and loosen the upper nut before trying to undo the lower nut otherwise you can guarantee shearing it and having to replace the top strap too which is tank out job

Cheers, I'll have a look this weekend (it says it's going to be dry!).
