How does he / or the 'Pete' ones reinforce the hinges inside the body or do they not?

I think people would need to get an inspector to sign-off - (via google translate) "TÜV registration by individual approval"

no idea, i'm just thankful mine came with a factory one and i don't have to decide which of the inferior ones to get

I had a swingaway on my Series 2 Landy. They may be cheap but the reason why is that after a couple of years the paint falls off.
I want to build one, but to be honest buying one that is off the shelf saves the cost and effort
Oh and as it hangs off the wing it made the body bend
