Re: Power steering - EPAS
In response to the comments here about insurance being invalidated through the installation of EPAS, I have just been in communication with my insurance broker and they with the insurance company (KGM through Glynwoods).
The response is that, as specialist insurers they recognise the modifications people make to their vehicles and, so long as they don't make it faster/ more powerful/ more attractive to thieves, then they will generally cover it. They must, of course, be notified of the changes when they are made.
I have to say that, after speaking with Roger, the systems his company manufacture sound rather better designed than others I have investigated.

Re: Power steering - EPAS
Very interesting thread, have thought about having EPAS and the £400 price makes it much cheaper than fitting OEM pumps/pipes/rack/up-rights.
There seems to be a tightening up in the after-market industry, I've heard of after-market exhaust manufactures having trouble getting/being refused renewals of their liability insurance, but how an exhaust can be blamed for causing a accident is beyond me. Although, as Andrew points out, after the 9 months my friend's just had, the law & common sense aren't great bed-fellows.
Is anyone going to mention de-couplers?

Apart from gas leaks, a friend of mine had the tailpipe fall off his MexiBeetle a few years back. It bounced three times then went straight through the headlight of the car behind him...

Possible, but I don't think TuV tested can ensure bolts are done up or it will never rust!!!

We have to get all our equipment CEed, fortunately I'm not involved in the process.
