simple rim question

Post by slippy8v »

Ok heres the problem 4 15inch alloys on the syncro but the spares a 14 inch so cannot be used if needed, so have been trying to source a similar 15 alloy but no luck so far, other option is to get a 15 inch steel just for a spare,so which 15 inch steels would fit and take the weight.
have checked wiki already and the merc steel i found looks like it will fit, if you are running 15inch steels what are they, been told T4 would fit.

the alloys on her are MSM Pluton 7J X 15 H2 ET 38

sourced a 15 inch merc rim ET31 6J X 15H2 will this do as a spare?

Thanks geoff

Brickwerks stock a 15" MEFRO steel for the T3 for about £63. It's designed for the van and is probably what we are going to fit instead of alloys.

mefros are definately the way to go , as far as i know the merc steels can only handle 600kg where as the mefros can handle 900 kg and are pretty much indestructable, flog the alloys to the 2wd boys and get yourself a set of 5 mefros :ok

Don't want to spent another £300+ for new rims at the moment, as she needs new tyres as well, just need an option for a spare to get me on the road. Will look at new rims later in the build.
As its only a spare the merc rim should do yes or no

If I remember correctly the tyres on your van are 225/70/15 so that Merc rim you have will work. All Merc rims have a part number. Whats the number on yours?

only had a quick look the merc steel ET31 6J X 15H2 if i get the chance will get another look for any other numbers.
tyres that are on her are 225 70 15 but these are coming of as one has a bad gash and she's been on them for along time.
some nice new ones planned

the alloys on her are MSM Pluton 7J X 15 H2 ET 38
all other numbers on alloys are 1968b and kba413

have a set of standard 14 inch steels squirrelled away so could go that road with stainless caps and rings.

That wheel is off a C Class from 2000 to 2007 and as a spare it will do the job fine! It would be suitable for 215/75/15 for example.
