A vaguely related snippet that I recall from reading some samba speculative blahblah a while back.
Jagdwagens (could have?) had a rear winch mounted at the back of the load bed, with the cable running over a pulley on the roll hoop. Some of the sambanistas questioned what use this was for recovery, since the winching loads would crush the hoop.
Short answer: Jagd means literally to chase or hunt. The rear winch was for helping to load the day's kill...
