without the circlips in 0.1mm increments and some skill it's pretty difficult to properly set up new trunions yourself, with the supplied circlips you'll either be lucky or not, they are an agricultural product different spec to the original
relationship to gearboxes is irrelevant either the prop is balanced or it isn't
I gave up doing myself give them to the pros ie GKN or similar

Thanks Aidan.

Just noticed the following on Simon page for the UJ's
'Please note this UJ comes with clips and a grease nipple, you need to remove the old grease nipple blanking plug from your old UJ and fit it to the new one"

This page seems to suggest I should have replaced the rubber coupling at the same time.

By the time I get it balanced I will have been better off getting a recon prop.

The Christmas Turkey is getting smaller all the time !!!

Thanks Aidan, what do GKN charge to center the prop? A local propshaft balancing shop said they couldn't do it.
I think its really odd that my previously balanced prop is now not centred or balanced. BW's description of the GKN UJ's I have fitted is OEM (ie not agricultural) so would have thought standard circlips should be fine. Surely OEM UJ's are a precision fit. The mechanic at my local garage is not a bodger but a good mechanic. He was really puzzled by it.

Cheers Aidan. I take it that includes fitting new UJ's and centering and balancing.

Measured my old circlips and they are all the same.
