I removed the cheapie joint without seal to replace with one that has the seal. I'll be keeping this joint as a spare and hope to find where I can get a seal for it.

The joint had done around 200 mile including driving around Salisbury Plain. I was surprised to find the boot had started to deteriorate.

Comparing it to the boot off the original joint you can see it is a lot shorter and 1 less rib. So I ended up putting the original boot back on.

Again, I had issues with trying to fit the joint with the clip it came with. The clip is too wide to get the joint onto the shaft.
