I see the seller on ebay is called "storycollector" - just about says it all really...

Hope you aren't put off and find yourself a decent one after you've had your money back from that toe rag and the MOT station is closed down.

If the seller has put a fresh mot prior to purchase the the buck is truly passed to the mot center. VOSA will act and if needed discipline appropriately. They will not help you recover losses though. It will be down to you persue mot centre for losses. It's possible " but seemingly very unlikely " that the seller not being qualified to determine the roadworthy ness if the vehicle had done the right thing and entrusted a professional to do this. VOSA may investigate fraud with the help of the police if they deem it nessesary. Knowing if any relationship lies between the seller and tester is essential I feel.

Lee.

Ps don't forget the mot is a minimum safety inspection and should NOT be used as a condition report of a vehicle. Unfortunately we pass cars and vans regularly that we don't feel should pass. Likewise we fail cars that we feel should pass. It's simply down to the rules laid down by VOSA. I've yet to see someone challenge VOSA and their rules against the legislation laid out in the road traffic act.

A really sorry tale..
I could never buy a vehicle unseen unless it was so cheap it didnt matter..... I saw this van on the bay... and thought to myself... "jeez.. he's hoping..."
I dont want to sound offensive.. but while people will still buy things unseen and there isnt any recourse on the seller then this kind of thing will continue..
unfortunately.. you are not the first and wont be the last....

Who is selling it though? The lady owner who was on this thread or the person who sold it to her?
