I took a shady car dealer from Perth to court a couple of years ago to recover cash from a shed of a Vectra I bought and I was successful. If this guy isn't a car dealer, at least you'll have eBay on side and Paypal, if you used them?

Good luck, I hope you get everything back, I hate scumbags like this!!

I've got one and curious to see how many of them there are out there.

I have one.

Yep I've got the other one. Ultra-rare 15" prototype. A right old shed too

You could say the same when it comes to valuations as well.

Update on Arlette's blind-spot purchase:

VOSA are now investigating the garage that gave this van its MOT and even said they were grateful that the incident was reported to them. So I have a choice now: I could go the trading standards route. It makes sense in many ways. However, the seller assured me I would never see the money -- and from my experience in other areas of life (not syncros, right!) people usually do not deviate too far from their initial statements, unless they are willing to enter dialogue. Or, and this my preferred option: to cut my loses to accept I screwed up and take responsibility for that, and, offer this as a reclamation project to someone on the 8090 club. Their man who did the inspection from VOSA said that he thought with £3-4,000 I could get put back on the road. I'm sure you guys however, are the best judge of this. Also - it makes no sense for me to be the one to do it - it needs someone who will get their own hands onto the project to make it worthwhile.

So I would like to sell it to cover, or at least contribute to, the cost of repairs on a friend's Doka -- he's mooted he's not ready to let it go and needs to find it a mid-term home. Since I'm on Ardnamurchan, we may be able to help each other out for now at least, give the whole thing some breathing space...and even bring joy!

Comments, feedback, questions, offers -- all welcome.

It's parked up in Ian's yard, as you know.

best wishes,
Arlette George.

Holy crap!

I'm astounded that the seller had the audacity to sell that for £8k.

Good luck finding a resolution to this

Really sorry you got done, but to be honest, apart from sills, (not all pics opened) none of those pics shown are MOT issues, just general nastiness!
If its a private seller you could have a 'mare trying to get any cash back.
We've all been caught at one time or another, just a shame your learning curve is such an expensive lesson.
Hind-sight is a wonderous thing but always be wary of Syncro ads when the 4x4 system is never mentioned.

We bought our first syncro on eBay the seller said it was a really nice van :) when we went to pick it up it was a total shed  eBay were no help at all did not get one penny back. I wouldn't trust eBay to purchase anything.

I might be wrong, but this reads as if sale was done outside of ebay anyway.
Agree Paypal assurance is a total lie. I bought some alloy wheels once, paid through paypal. 3 weeks later only three turned up, Paypal told me it wasn't their problem & closed case!! :x
There is absolutely no way of getting hold of them, if they don't want to talk to you. Would not give me address to write/send court papers to. Without employing legal experts (ie lots more of your cash) they will just totally ignore you.
Only with the threat of small claims court papers 5 months later did I get my hard-earned back from seller!

its all there, would a solution be to repair the bodges, and have a rhd syncro camper to be proud of, rather than lose big chunks of money?
