Diesel engine mount bars question
i have been seeing two types of these, one type with rubber bushes built into the end brackets and another type with solid brackets.
i am talking about the tube bars which bolt to the chassis and the rear quarter panel and have brackets at the bottom for the main engine mounts.
can anyone tell me what type i should be getting for my tdi conversion please?
this set has one of each...is that normal or a muddled set?

Re: Diesel engine mount bars question
going by whats on mine, that is a mixed set. mine do not have the rubber. As well as the two bars, on the LH side there is a little strengthening plate. Dont worry if its missing, b'werks sell it very cheap.
im sure i have some pics on the tdi part of my getting there thread. i'll have a look

Re: Diesel engine mount bars question
Diesel bars are diffrent on syncro to standard van
because the engine is mounted lower (i think 25mm but someone correct me)
you need to buy syncro specific engine bars
or adjust standard ones by welding on a longer mounting plate to each end
if you dont do this the prop shaft will run out of line and wear more quickly

phew. thats worth knowing then.
thanks guys.
i may just fabricate copies of the ones on my doka, but it would be easier to just buy a pair.

Re: Diesel engine mount bars question
sounds like half a plan Aidan thanks.
on the doka they both have fixed ends but in the for sale section is another odd pair.
are all the 2wd ones like that and the syncro ones fixed?

Re: Diesel engine mount bars question
There are "comfort" mounts as fitted to 253 and upwards, lowly commercials don't have the luxury of the extra damping.
Not sure of Syncro, can't remember seeing comfort mounts on a Syncro, I'll look at ETKA tomorrow.
