No Haynes yet - T25 pumper thermostat question

Post by ghost123uk »

Well I have now got my T25 tin top 1.9 petrol camper in my drive.

On the 20 mile journey home it became obvious that the stat wasn't working (or perhaps not even there  )

The choke was not coming off properly, the heater blew very slightly warmed air and the temp guage never moved. I was supprised at how cold the main water pipes under the rear lid were after a 20 mile journey, the whole motor, water pipes and all, were cool to touch.

No haynes yet, is the stat in that square housing, front left of the motor with large and small water pipes coming from it, and top held on with 4 allen head bolts ?

Is it a simple gasket or should I be getting an "o" ring from the main stealers before I start ?

Sure it's not just airlocked? Big long pipes all the way under the vehicle mean it needs bleeding properly or problems may result. The bleeding procedure is on the Wiki (link at top of page).

Thanks but I reckon a cold engine after a 20 mile run is more likely the stat :)

Now off to find the bits...
