choke type lever on a diesel !!!

i have just to the right of the steering wheel on the lower dash rail (lhd)on my t25 westy a lever like a choke lever that i allways thought let air in through a vent in to the cab , i have since found out today that it doesnt........... whats it there for????? i have only had it a year after all!!!

it is the cold start handle.you should not need it in england.it doesn't get cold enough.it advances the timing a tad.

i wouldnt know, i aint had the lammy on the road yet. have restored it through the winter and its ALMOST done.

that lambretta you can see on my avatar. i bought it in cack brown covered in dents and in bits for £200. i painted it, new everything, mildly tuned it, racing clutch, fresco etc (got rid of the clubman in photo). just need to sort the flickering lights out now !!!!!
