temperature gauge

Post by bartlby bus »

hello

i have an a reg 1.9 petrol bus and the dash temperature gauge is behaving oddly. when i turn the ignition on (not startingthe engine) the light flashes and the needle goes straight to the top end of the scale, where it stays. some times it comes down after about half an hour driving. i have changed the sensor on the engine for a new one but that didnt cure it.

now im guessing its somthing in the dash or wiring
the engine doesnt overheat and i can drive all day but id like t be able to tell if its going to overheat.

any ideas

and could i get round this by using one of those vdo temp gauges from jk?

thanks

multiplug connector at dash, bad earth, broken wire - check continuity.
Don't assume the new sensor is ok either.
