speedo cable

Post by cumbriankeith »

You need access to underside front espec nearside, behind grille and behind speedo binnacle.
Removing old one will help understand how it fits.
Start at the near side front and locate the small circlip in centre of grease cap of wheel - remove it without losing it!
Then pull the cable from the rear of the wheel assembly - could be stiff and rusted in but get brutal and it should come out.
Detach the bayonet fitting from rear of speedo.
Trace it up to the speedo unthreading it from bracing supports and remembering where it goes, including thro the bulkhead whereupon it should be possible to pull it all into the cab.
Fit new one in reverse order without missing any of the brace supports - it gets fiddly trying to get the the square bit thro the grease cap so you may need to remove the cap - I use a claw hammer as a perfect lever for this.
