Well dudes you have got the right way for sure with a good 1.9n or AAZ.But how about this i sorted out my replacement 1.6td golf engine it had a few problems eg head/gasket and no crankshaft input spigot for the gearbox. Now regarding the gearbox there are a few experts on here that voice against using a 1.9 petrol or 2ltr Aircooled gearbox .But as far as getting the revs down and still have pulling power for my van which is a tin top 1.6td kitted out inside rock&roll beds and storage.Heres how it goes it will pull nearly off the clock and does easily 65 in third gear and the speedo is fairly accurate .Theres no problem with it overgeared. In my experiance driving with the standard 1.6 diesel gearbox its hard work.
