Welding under LPG tank

Post by mark206000 »

Hi,

Failed mot :? Need some welding done, but the hole is right under the lpg tank and filler neck and the guy won't do it in fear of getting blown up !

Can't get tank out as it buried into the bottom of the cupboards and after just spending alot of time getting them looking nice I really don't want to pull them all out :(

Anyone attempted any welding in this situation and still alive to tell the tale ?

Mark

if you isolate the tank at the shut off valve, and take sensible precautions, i wouldnt be scared of it.......... its a lot safer than welding near a petrol tank, esp a empty one.....

your gas tank dont leak does it? the pipe work dont leak? then whats the problem??

Nobody will touch it with the tank there, i've tried a few places.

The lpg was in the van when I bought it last year but never worked properly. Been trying to get the money to have it looked at.

I checked with a place to see if they would have a look at it, but they will only work on their own stuff they say. I can only find 2 over here, other one too far away.

So i'm just gonna have to see if I can just take it out by myself :!: I'm not sure if it's a professional install ?

Has anyone ever seen one of these, it's all in german. What looks like the cut off valve on top of it says 0 and ZU (which i translated to 'to' ) I take it i turn it to 0 and hope for the best really !

i wouldn't be affraid! the tank would be about 5-10mm thick, that's some seroiously prolonged welding directly at the tank to pierce the tank!
