Another quick relay question

Post by jed the spread »

the new relay i bought has 6 conectors on it and has the code BTA5 iX on it
ive conected it up as it tells you

green wire = power suply -- -- green wire to vehicle battery

blue wire = leasure charge -- -- red wire to fridge suply

white wire= earth -- -- purple wire to warning light terminal
on regulator or intecator terminal on
alternator. on the intructions it also says,'connect purple wire to terminal b on the relay. conect the other end to the W.l. on regulator or IND terminal on alternator.
N.B if ignition light fails to go out fully then conect the purple wire to an ignition feed.

so i conected the purple wire to the smaller purple wire on th alternator and the ignition light wouldnt go out, so were is the best place to conect the purple wire now then is the question.

ok when i connect the purple wire to the alternator the ignition light stays on when the engine is running so according to the instructions i should connect it to an ignition feed. so what do they mean be ignition feed and were is the best place to connect to such a feed. i had a go but when i plugged my 240 charger on the leisure battery the van turned itself on

:rollin

Wire the purple one to where the blue wire would go on the one on the towbar. The W terminal is getting upset at two relays I think.

it would seem to me that the two ways of achieveing a splitcharge system would be to go for a conventional relay, wire it into the blue wire from the alternator, and if you need a fridge relay add another!

or you get a voltage sensative one that only has a +ve and -ve with an out put to your 2nd batt and your fridge! these will automatically sense when the engine is on! but they are crap! - ask mocki!
