Well..
ouit comes the propex, im a little dissapointed with the installation for many reasons , here i note there is no sealant around rthe hole, gonna let loads of water in and under the flooring :(
Image
gas tank and all of the mess of stuff out of the way
Image
i never knew the waste drain went down behind the tank and into the grey tank...
Image
as suspected, the rear is feeling sad with itself, so no doubt the bottom of the rear 1/4 will be cut away to get access, also have to shift the gas v/v gear, bu*****..still as steve s just fitted it ,it will come out easy...
Image
a quick exploratory cut to define the extent of the damage, the funny whitish thing is filler that squirted through in time gone bye
Image i have removed the ply floor as stated earlier as i knew there were issues under it
Image
there are..so all out and a new inner floor to make and fit as well
so cut a bit more
Image
someone has been here before of course
Image
you can see the mess here is the remnant of the original sill and the repair has been to tack a bit of plate over it, wrong ,in never works in this area.
Image
nasty
Image
when i get further into it i will decide on the best way to sort it, my preference is to repair the sill after cutting out ,but it may be so far gone that a new sill is worth cutting down and using,
its not all doom. the c post here is untouched, just caught it in time and there is no trace of rustproffing so a real miracle
Image
mm :ok

Would you believe it if I told you the propex was fitted by one of their reps? He charged a pretty penny too.

Glad the c post is looking good

Well, an interesting time, had to get out my sickbed and get on
maybe wish i hadnt but examining things i said earlier that its had work , well several lots of work, a genuine wing was fitted some time ago due to a light accident, dont much like the way they fitted it, also dont much agree with bonding panals on , especially the inner wing area, still could almost live with that if only they had taken the trouble to set the wing right,
this picky shows how far out the nsr wing sits
Image
this is looking down from the hinge area
Image
it looks worse in the flesh and i cant live with it for one.
what htey did was to fit it but retain the lower flange and assume this is the correct placement , they never bothered to reghang the slider to check just paint it and done,
this is the rear join
Image
not happy, not adhered well,
so it looks like im going to have to try and remove their fixings and attempt to relocate the wing , nasty job and may end up scrapping it as its also too far out on the inner wing....
got to stop as braising steak and dumplings are ready
mm

better
back panal has had a few thumps may end up taking the silencer off to get better access, will see how it goes
Image
so back to the sill, had a horrible repair, bit of plate wrapped over the original
Image
and
Image
I keep saying it , but let pieces in , dont wrap a bit of plate over stuff ,its lazy and wrong
so i reckon the only way here is to chop it all out
start by despotting the top closure plates, dont be tempted to drill right through as these holes would be through to the underside and then youd have to get under to puddle weld them up
Image
then save your spot bit and drill right through the spots securing the inner sill to the floor, when you fit the new sill these holes are then ready for puddle welding it back on.
Image
start by removing the bulk any way you want before the refined trimming !
Image
and here
Image
this then leaves a very nice surface to re attatch to after cleaning the sealant off
Image
its not that bad in there but definately needed doing as a pig in years to come when it will fail for sure
Image
Image
there is more but got to nip out for an hour
mm :ok

Well what do you make of this
Image
nice isnt it :rofl
Image
now shall we have a peep round the other side, i will point out that i have removed the last of Steves gas conversion (sorry fella) but needs must
Image
the long bolt is securing the gas tank frame,
Image
its going to need a new base making and fitting
Image
the rear 1/4 lower is iffy so will cut the bottom of that of, it will also help with access, hehe
quick peep at the other side means it wont feel left out
Image
oh and this is the side with 80% of the rubbish cut out
Image
minor works to the rear jp as well
Image
at least it will be interesting to do
mm :ok

This is the little-known obscure 'Emmenthal' Komet conversion. Highly desirable!
