Dear all.
Keeping with the convivial nature of this event, the food them will be Best of British.

The aim is that we can all take part in the feast about 7pm on Saturday.

I'm sure there will be a large array of foods.

Please post up your contributions so we can avoid quadruple servings of roast beef and treble servings of scones.

I'm hoping to have fresh produce from the allotment - new potatoes, strawberries and hopefully raspberries.

Will see if I can find any local specialities too.

When we say "British" does that mean as in Britain (read as Empire) and all the foods that were adopted into the national palate?

I'll compliment the fine foods with localish fine ales from nearbyish breweries (To Llanfyllin and/or Shropshire border).

No... I'm sure Sharon Essam-Pollard meant typical Foods and Dishes rooted in British tradition before the Empire's influence became ingrained...

e.g. Lancashire Hotpot; Haggis; Regional Cheeses; Welsh Rarebit; Trifle; Christmas Pudding; Jelly & Blancmange; Toad in the Hole; Bread Pudding; Bread & Butter Pudding; Any sort of Roast Meat (Rosbifs!); Shepherds Pie or Cottage Pie; Pork pies; Fish n Chips; Black Pudding;
Steak & Kidney pudding or pie; Apple Crumble; Rhubarb Crumble;

:D Hahaha Prawn cocktail 60s Burton & Taylor style :D
You know.. in a fancy wine glass

And of course you don't need to bring or prepare a complete meal, just part or one dish is all we ask.

The social meal is a great way of mixing and socialising, may it long continue.
I 'm not sure how to implement this but can we moderate the amount of food.
I know I sound like my old headmaster but the amount of left overs, much of which becomes waste is unnecessary.

Tricky one though!

I’ll bring a couple of jugs of gin drinks, what could be more British?
Does anyone have a Pimms type jug I could borrow?

Yes Jim, left overs and waste are unnecessary.
Which is why we have this thread to make sure there are no copious amounts of doubles etc

Hi We are looking forward to the weekend and we decided that we will prepare 'Coronation Chicken' with Salad.
