Some details about the first event of the year on the Early May bank holiday weekend.
Trying a new location this year within the AONB Mendips, Somerset.
Site booked- check; site portaloo booked - check; campsite booked - check; pub inspected at least thrice - check!
Camping on the edge of the village of Priddy, 5 miles north-west of Wells Somerset, a weekend of onsite events and local laning and touring.
Arrive Friday afternoon onwards - campsite with running water, composting toilet and fire pit. Very decent village pub 5 minutes walk away.
Saturday - all day onsite at Gibbets Brow quarry. 10 mins drive away. A compact site with several distinct areas. We have exclusive access for the day to hone our hill climbing ability, if its wet our fording legs, if its muddy our difflocks, whatever the weather lots of axle twisting technical challenges on grass, loose rock, slab rockbeds and stream bed for all abilities and red-mist fulfilment.
Sunday - local laning and touring. Maybe visit a cider farm; goggle at Cheddar Gorge; picnic on a sand beach; buy a wind chime from Glastonbury town.
Monday - For those staying on a further night, a little more laning with an afternoon departure for drive home.
Costs are:- £25 for the event; £7 per unit per night camping. If you have yet to apply/renew your annual club membership (£10) that'll need adding.
I believe a booking form will be along soon.
