In the end it's the people that take the time to attend these events that make them from my experience.

It's easy to complain and hard to make changes and improve things. Having not attended Syncro 25 I can't comment but there was a lot of positive feedback at the time. That needs to be taken on board and expanded upon.

Lets hope it goes the right way. I'm not sure how much UK owners will be able to influence any of the event but participation on the IG16 forum has to be the start.

How about all us syncro owners meet in a field somewhere remote like say Wales with nothing in it except grass and a stream and up just talk about syncros with other syncro owners and moan about everyone who doesn't have a syncro...and we should have a moat to prevent the riff raff getting in as well...we won't have any trading at all as that can cause upset I believe...

Good idea?

Its not that remote down here in Wales, believe it or not we do have electricity, and some of the big shops even have moving staircases!!

Its only 1000 miles to a Syncro Aladdins cave, but you do have to drive through england to get there :run :run :run

There is an interesting, relevant thread on TheSamba asking for commentary on what was good about a recent SyncroFest gathering in the USA.
http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=597478
For those that don't frequent that forum, I will summarise as to date people are expressing their appreciation of the camaraderie at a dedicated Syncro event, which encourages 2WD attendees.

Sorry just flicked on to this post for more info and was surprised at the postings . . . I am at one with the above quote and it was one of the main reasons that I bought my Syncro plus the adrenaline rush is pretty good too :)

As an attendee of Syncro 25 (very well organised and enjoyed) and not on the forum for regular updates . . . has a site been decided or considered and who is involved? Or is that a question too far . . . .

Yes I was having a bit of bad hair day, but my oblique references were indeed hinting that if it involves heaving crowds or martinets in PPE that behave like a horses a**e, I'm out.

None of which is a reflection on syncronauts in any way whatsoever. You are all far to agreeable for that sort of thing;)

Hi there!
while not being involved in the planing process, I'm still looking forward to the event. I bought my first syncro (not my first T25) only weeks before the Syncro 25 meeting and attended that. Having met some of you guys there brought me to this forum. From what I hear, IG16 and the Berlin "posse" are doing their best to make this a memorable event, including a "Tour de Germany" after the meet for anyone who's interested, but those plans are being circulated within the IG16 Member section which I am not part of (yet). It will be my pleasure to keep you posted on proceedings if I can (and whenever I find the time).

Cheers, André

Although there does not seem to be too much information available yet, it would seem that the Berlin Bus Festival is usually a short weekend event on an airfield site. Are many folks likely to do the 2,000 mile round trip to Berlin just for this? I was getting fired up to make arrangements to go but am having second thoughts. Maybe as time goes on the event may develop further and perhaps people know of other things to do and places to visit around Berlin or on the way there or back.

Earlier in this thread someone put forward a suggestion for a UK event that sounded a lot like Syncropendence. Is it possible to scale up SP to include more events (trial, treasure/punch hunt, laning, cultural visits, etc) and stretch it to more like a week? I don't know what constraints there might be on that site.

It seems to me that there is plenty of opportunity to have a home syncro 30 event at a separate time to cater for those not wanting to travel as far as Berlin as well as allowing others to do both. I would like to hear what others think, please.

S/P sort of happens this way, as its the weekend before Camperjam and in the recent years many syncros have attended both events and toured around wales during the week between, i unfortunatly have not been able to do this due to it happening during term time, and living 200miles each way dose not help.
i cant remember you attending s/p in the past 5 years or so unless you attended this year as i was unable too attend, but every year there has been the basic off road introduction for new comers normally done by clive. along with a punch hunt and a trial, and in past years there has been a local green laneing trip for those who stayed on for the monday.
i dont know about the Berlin event but all the uk syncro events are organised by the committee or individuals (not for profit) who give up there time because they want to do it, and as with modern life every one is busy and we put the time in as and when we can.
i dont believe that the committee would have any objection organising a uk event at s/p but you have to remember that the max number in attendance at s/p was around 25/30 vans when the french were in attendance (may be 7-10 vans) .i would say that 15 to 20 vans would be the average. So the main question would be is it worth the effort when there is already a basic formular that works quite well for the numbers that attend?

There is plenty of stuff to see and do to make a full week out of this. For instance, on the way to the Berlin meeting: Hannover vw factory, Wolfsburg (30 km detour) with the VW Automuseum on the Dieselstrasse, Autostadt and Classic Parts center. And offcourse a visit to Berlin is in order, there is a great "aire" for campervans near the Tegel airport. Gated, showers and toilets, power hookup. Walking distance to the subway. appx. 15 euros a night per van! They take online revervations. Berlin as everyone knows has a rich history and it's very easy to spend 2 or 3 days there. I can very much recommend it. :ok

Germany Roundtrip Syncro 30 Years

Dear Syncronauts,
Within the scope of the Syncro 30 Years gathering, the German Community of Interest Syncro 16” (Interessengemeinschaft syncro 16”, or IG syncro 16”) would like to take the opportunity to introduce Germany as a travel destination.

As announced earlier, the gathering itself will be held near Berlin from 14 to 16 August 2015. More details on the gathering in English as soon as the English website will be ready.

Following the gathering, we will offer a 10 day Germany round trip. We will start on Sunday, 16 August 2015 in Jüterbog ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/J" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;üterbog).

We will first and foremost offer this round trip to visitors from abroad, but participants from Germany will also be welcome to take part in the event.
We will travel in groups of eight to ten vehicles and meet at the points of interest as well as on the campgrounds in the evenings. The maximum number will be 40 Syncros. The daily stage will not be more than approx. 300 km/185 miles. This will allow us to have enough time to visit sights along the way and to spend time together.

Our first stop will be Dresden ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dresden" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;). On Monday, we will continue our journey along the Czech border. We will pass through Bayreuth ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bayreuth" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) and reach Munich ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Munich" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) the same day. From there, we will continue our trip in the direction of Lake Constance ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lake_constance" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) and through the Black Forest ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_forest" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) to meet the Rhine River ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rhine" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;). Next stops will be the Ruhr region ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ruhr" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) and Offroad Park Fürstenforst ( https://www.furstenforest.eu/de" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; - sorry, no German version available). Here, we will pause for one day. Via Hannover ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hannover" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) we will reach Hamburg ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hamburg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;), where the round trip will finish on 25 August 2015.

We look forward to meeting all participants. There is a lot to discover and see.
Please let us know if you would like to join the tour by replying to the following email:
syncro30germanytour@ig-syncro16.de

Please do so by the following date: 31 Mai 2015

Costs for night stops, provisioning and sightseeing cannot yet be quantified at this time unfortunately.
