Rear fog lamp lens cover repair needed

Post by Ralf85 »

I fitted a plastic rear fog lamp from China to my vehicle. It's what I would call brittle plastic. Anyway, the lens has been cracked and come off and I was wondering what is the best type of glue to fix it back together with. There are so many on the market, but most glues don't seem right.

It needs to be effective and water resistant. Any thoughts as to what is best? Cheers

Don’t bother with Methyl_cyanoacrylate (sp?) superglue , it’s also very brittle
I would suggest a two part epoxy , something like Araldite , only on the inside of the lense ?

Superglue is really good with rubber and ain't brittle.

1978, 100E rear gearbox mount failed on way home from work, glued with superglue (new then) overnight in the vice. Lasted for 3 years until I sold the car....

!998, Fiat Uno, universal joint boot split, MOT failure, needed the car next day and glued the split with superglue. Passed, and lasted 40k miles....

:ok

Oo yeah I've glued a small pinch split in a ball joint boot before, (self made while installing it). Saved a LOT of ballache Image
