Missing vaccum hose from air filter

Post by Rub-a-DUBDUB »

Hello all,
First time posting and hope you're all getting on through lockdown 3.

I've just joined the VW club and got my 1982 Vw T25 1.9 petrol Betty a few weeks back. Just trying to look through everything to see where we are. Completely new to it and just learning a lot and doing checks.

I'm looking at the air filter box atm and seeing an opening where a hose should be - pic below. I've previously seen photos of a hose, attached to a T piece and going to two diff locations. Am I missing something?

Thanks!

Cheers lads - that's exactly the photo I'd found originally that made me realise I was missing the part. I'm going to grab the hose and a t-piece, start digging around but if anybody has a clue to where it would normally connect that would be great.

It looks as though one line goes from the air filter box to a section next to the distributor cap. I'll have a dig and let you know.

Cheers for the van compliments pal  :ok

The one you are missing goes to the other side of the advance retard on the dissy , assuming yours has two ports
(obscured in your picture)
in theory if you have gah port it should be blanked off with a short rubber stub pipe.

The pipe to the cone side of the dissy vac unit should come from the left carb and the pipe to the other side of the vac unit, next to the dissy body, comes from the balance pipe at the back of the airbox.

looks like all youre missing is the T piece from the retard on the distributor, possible been removed as the valve in the air filter could be faulty
