Can anyone point me in the direction of a Haynes manual for an 89 1.6td, the only one I can find is in Swedish. I’ve tried the Haynes website but it keeps returning 1 match from the registration which is the Swedish manual.
Thanks

As far as I know the Haynes manuals only covered petrol engine vans, and the Bentley manual only covered the N/A diesels. The only 3rd party manual that I'm aware of which covered the 1.6TD T25 was the Russek manual. The original is out of print, but Just Kampers publish a reprint which you can get here.
The best thing to do would be to get a copy of Bentley for most other jobs, and then if you drop me a PM I'll send you a couple of links to download PDF copies of the relevant VW Workshop manuals for the 1.6TD engine.

Thanks both, when we bought the van the previous owner gave us the Kamper manual from Just Kampers. Well now I know not to waste too much more time looking for a diesel Haynes
All I was really after was a book that had exploded diagrams for common fixes and replacement jobs such as bushes, I have found so many useful videos on Youtube that go into great detail, one particular chap had a book which he used as his reference.
If I was to buy a haynes for a 89 T25 would the rest of the van be identical and the only difference be the engine and associated parts or are they totally different between diesel and petrol?

You could get by with the petrol Haynes, but I wouldn’t honestly bother getting it unless you’re a completist and really want to. The best manual by far is the Bentley, supplemented with PDFs of the VW workshop manuals for the JX engine.

But Haynes is £15 and Bentley is £80 , nothing wrong with the Haynes

For sure the Bentley is more expensive, but it is essentially a facsimile of the VW workshop manuals, and IMHO the illustrations and information it contains are both much more comprehensive, and more clearly laid out, than in Haynes. I believe there are PDFs of the Bentley Vanagon manual floating around on the net, so you might be able to find something using google to review before deciding which to buy.

I managed to acquire a Bentley version online as a pdf, it’s scanned in so not perfect but more than adequate
