WBX early vs late exhaust ?

Post it here, if it doesn't fit any of the above.

WBX early vs late exhaust ?

Post by Cobra88 »

Hi Guys

Need to ask a silly question
my 1984 DG (85 "F" coded chassis) has the old style exhaust and cooling system and works fine.

is there any power to be gained with late style exhaust over the early ? as it looks better flowing at least.
Looks like it will all fit if I get the correct alloy engine crossmember mount part to hang the silencer from

Regards
Rick

I don't suppose you would notice, I think it was done for torque but could be wrong.

Early is cheaper I think

If you want more power 2.1 is the way forward, all the other mods are going to give very limited improvement and probably nothing if your engine is not in great condition anyway.

Hi Itchy

my DG was recently rebuilt so not overkeen on finding a 2.1

Have seen a cheap useable late system and wondered if there was an advantage
the early system just looks made to fit rather than made to work like the later system.

Regards
Rick

I have never had an early van so I can't say if there would be any problems fitting it, you would certainly need the late engine support and the late silencer hangers and straps.

No, they only changed the exhaust so they could fit a catalytic converter in the system. I prefer the early system the engine seems to run smoother with them.

Late system would require you to change you rear tin wear too, the piece that holds your radiator expansion tank.
