Heater control knobs

Post by R11X VW »

Hi All

Can someone please tell me what each of the heater control knobs do as the top one has the cable missing and I don't know which one to order. Also it's constantly blowing hot. would that be something to do with the missing cable?? Oh it's a 1.9 water cooled DG engine, no air con.

Thanx

Lever C on mine is jammed, running only the middle 50% of the travel and not going fully to either end. It feels like it is obstructed.

Has anyone taken one apart? How do you do it and how are the levers connected up? Any pictures greatly appreciated.

I know my stereo effects the bottom leaver on my van a bit, as it's a pretty tight fit in that part of the dash, with the cable for the lower leaver running under the stereo IIRC - it may be worth removing the stereo if you've got one fitted, see if that makes any difference. Plus, pull the ash tray up & out of the dash and you've got a pretty good view of the controls from above, so at least you can see what's going on at that end... :)

I realise this is an old thread but does anyone have this information for an 81 air cooled non blower camper?

I have two cables that I think my top lever should control but one is broken/disconnected hence I’m not sure. One moves the flap in the air box in front of the gear lever the other I think should move a flap in the vent that is in the rear compartment floor, is this correct?

Thanks
