New Kitchen: Induction or gas hob?

Post by Reimotim »

Hi Guys,

We're looking at building an extension and have the option of either an induction hob or a gas hob. But the question is which one?

Let me know your thoughts and experience.

Cheers

Not sure why the forum has chosen to reverse the word Kitchen in my subject line.

It appears as normal in the E D I T option.

I think induction is the way forward and non CO2 producing.

Induction all the way, we'd had gas for years but induction is so much better. More controllable, loads of clever features, easy to keep clean, more energy efficient....

Yep - About 3x more CO2 per cup of tea using remote gas via electrickery than using local gas....
HOWEVER no Carbon monoxide which is perhaps what the poster meant.

Gas, every time, apart from anything else it's cheaper, escorts 5p to boil a kettle on gas instead of 12p in an electric kettle. Then there' stage fact that it' shire and fire is cool! :ok

Don't know if all induction hobs are the same as the ones we have (for summer when aga is off), but they only have few steps for power setting, usually not enough and too much. I use camping stoves in preference these days. Bri

I'm the only non pro chef in my family and some were 3/4 rosette quality

And
I'm the last to move from gas to induction it is just better in every way, more controllable, cleaner and much less smell as there are no burning gasses to move smells around your kitchen.

Induction is a professional cooking method that got cheep enough for the rest of us, yes I know catering kitchens sill use gas but that's cos of the cost.

Next look at a combination steamer convection oven way cool, no meat srinkage and nicely quick with roasts.

Cheers

Si
