hubcaps

Post by pieman1 »

hi just got a new set of chrome hubcaps,I was thinking do any of you treat the inside of them before fitting them. I am thinking of a coat of vatcan followed by a coat of red oxide, its not going to harm and might get a bit longer life out of them. what do you lot think?. :?:

As you say, it probably won't do any harm. The outside of the hubcaps depends on the quality of the metal and chromium plating used. Cheap hubcaps don't last very long. Smeared my own cheapos with vaseline when I realised I wouldn't be able to drive the bus for a while.

if they were cheap caps then you be better spraying them with lacquer
the plating is about two atoms thick
