tyre pressure

Post by janieh »

Hi All
Another tyre pressure question I'm afraid. I have had a look on the forum and wiki already but wanted some reassurance.

I've got some 225/50 17 Kumho tyres, with a max 50psi on the sidewall, they're load rated 98 so fairly robust. I'm off on hols tomorrow and want to check that I've got them inflated properly.

Our van plate says front 43psi and rear 53 psi for the 185 R14 C tyre,
or for the 205/70 R14 97 reinforced it says 30 psi front, and 40 psi rear.

Obviously the first set of ratings are too high for our tyres, so I'm thinking that I should go with the 30/ 40psi, though this is at the low end of what's recomended in Haynes. What do you think? is this a good idea? I'm not sure how to take account of our larger and lower profile tyres.

cheers
Jane.
