Did you have a particular VW sign in mind?

Would fit on plain merc centre caps perfectly. I'll just have to stick with my merc centre caps with the merc logo on if no plain ones are available

yes, but you'll be removing the centre of the merc cap cruz.. the golf cap that inserts into the merc cap has already got VW on it.
Unless your only putting one golf insert in to clear the grease cap?

I don't have ML wheel on they are E class AMG wheels. The grease cap does not interfere with the centre cap as I have shortened the grease caps by 5mm. It's was purely cosmetic so i could have a vw badge on my centre cap rather than a merc logo

Yes they are indeed (ML CLK SLK SL CL) are all the same centres..
once the cap is drilled out with a hole cutter, the golf or sirocco cap will slide in, you will need 25mm of cap to protrude to cover the grease cap.
That sticks out 35 mm from the hub, but the merc centre cap sits on the wheel so it's less.

Cheers, that sort of detail is most welcome.
Roll on next March so that I can fit them.

Kev,
Are 10mm spacers (all round) the optimum or will they go out to 20mm?

I thought of this.
I had the centres made so didn't bother and fitted the 10's
It would take the fronts a bit further away from the suspension and a bit closer to the arches.

in conclusion it's up to you as there would be no bother either way.....nice to have the choice eh?

Cheers Kev.
I'll probably do a trail fit by doubling up the 10 mm spacers at first to see the outcome.
It is nice to have the choice.
